French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille have been reported to have convinced out of favor Chelsea Nigerian international Mikel Obi to join the club in the January 2017 transfer.
This season has not been productive for Mikel under new Chelsea coach Antonio Conte as he has not featured for the Blues in any game.
After spending ten years at Stamford bridge, it was learnt that Mikel Obi was considering a move to Chinese club Shanghai, but the midfielder’s reported £3.4 million a year salary has placed the deal on hold.
Recall that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr confirmed that Mikel will be heading to France when the January transfer window opens, and the club are not set to make the 29-year-old their highest paid player.
Bafetimbi Gomis is presently the highest paid footballer at Marseille with £420,000 monthly salary, and the club wants to improve on Mikel Obi’s reported £350,000 a month income for the Super Eagles captain to join the club.
